Two Somalis were given a two-year jail term suspended for four years after they pleaded guilty to their involvement in a fight at the Hal Far Open Centre. Abdalla Abdirehman, 25, and Hassan Weliyo, 20, admitted they instigated a fight in which a number of migrants ended up throwing objects at each other. The 25-year-old Somali man admitted he seriously injured someone, while the 20-year-old admitted he slightly injured someone else. They also pleaded guilty to having formed a group of 10 or more people with the intention of committing an offence. The court included a personal guarantee of €1,500 in their sentence, and ordered them not to approach the victims. The court was presided over by magistrate Saviour Demicoli. Police inspectors Anthony Portelli and Carlos Cordina prosecuted.
