Stunt Man Terry Grant returns with a bang

Malta Independent Wednesday, 26 May 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

After performing during the charity event l-iStrina last Christmas, stunt man Terry Grant has returned to wow Maltese spectators with his real stunts as seen on films or TV.

He will perform during the Monster Energy Modify It Car Show – the ultimate car show being held at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali from tomorrow till Sunday.

Mr Grant started driving, on private property, when aged eight, following in the steps of his parents who represented the United Kingdom in car racing events. Aged 15 he had already performed his first professional stunt as a driver.

Terry travelled around the world to perform at some of the most prestigious events such as the Race of Champions in Paris, the London Motorshow, Renault F1 Road Show, Autosport International and the TV studio of Guinness World Records in Madrid. Whatever the challenge, Mr Grant gives his very best to his fans, producers and promoters to ensure that whoever’s watching gets blown away with what they see. Having worked for the best car manufacturers including General Motors, Saab, Vauxhall, Nissan and TVR, Mr Grant often consults as stunt co-ordinator to show organisers looking to provide jaw-dropping action in a completely safe environment.

Mr Grant promises a lot of fun and promises his fans that they will be enjoying themselves throughout this weekend’s event aimed at all the family.

Asked if he ever had any serious injuries, he said that he had many. He broke his left wrist four times and his right one five times. Once he had to continue his show with a broken wrist. Another time he had his wrist plastered, but he removed the plaster so he could perform and then got it plastered again at the end of the show. “Injuries are part of my job, I got used to them especially when learning,” says Mr Grant. Luckily, he never got injured during a show.

“Anyone aspiring to become a stunt man has to work hard for it but as long as they do it properly and take all precautions to do it safely they can get there,” he told aspiring stunt persons.

Apart from Mr Grant’s show, the Monster Energy Modified Show promises car exhibitions and various related stands, entertainment areas, local bands and DJ acts, a visit by the cast of TV series Evangelisti, a kids area and a live entertainment area.

Tickets are available from Urban Jungle and Urban Culture outlets, handcrafts Valletta and from MFCC. More information is available on www.modifyitmalta.com
