A 40-year-old Sudanese man, Juma Hassan Saleh, who had been living at the Hal Far Open Centre, was given an 18-month jail term after he admitted to conspiring to help migrants leave Malta illegally in May last year and in previous months. The court was presided over by magistrate Saviour Demicoli. Police inspector Edel Mary Camilleri prosecuted and lawyer Mark Busuttil appeared for the defendant.
