Malta Independent Wednesday, 26 May 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Two men were jailed after they were found guilty of theft – a case that goes back nine years. Mark Dimech, 29, from Birkirkara, was given a 20-month jail term, while Albert Bugeja, 39, from Senglea, was given a two-year jail term. The court, presided over by magistrate Saviour Demicoli, heard that the two men broke into a residence in St Paul’s Bay at about 1am. They stole Lm1,000 (€2,300) and other items belonging to Lucienne Agius. They were also found guilty of damaging Ms Agius’ property. Mr Bugeja alone was found guilty of slightly injuring and threatening police constable Charles Grima. Police superintendent Carmelo Bartolo prosecuted and lawyer Jose Herrera appeared for the defendants.
