A 19-year-old from San Gwann was accused yesterday of seriously injuring a man in a fight in Valletta on Sunday night. Before magistrate Lawrence Quintano, Jean Pierre Caruana pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Darren Galea at about 1am on the night between Sunday and Monday. He was also charged with being in possession of a sharp and pointed object without a police licence, and with breaching the peace. He was granted bail against a deposit of €2,000 and a personal guarantee to the same amount. Senior police inspector Pierre Micallef-Grimaud prosecuted. Lawyers Joseph Giglio, Gianella Caruana Curran and Stephen Tonna Lowell appeared for the defendant.
