Snooker – European Championship - Alex Borg, Duncan Bezzina And Simon Camilleri qualify

Malta’s Alex Borg and Duncan Bezzina moved a step closer to qualification qualified for the knock-out stages after winning some more group matches at the European championship being held in Bucharest, Romania.

Borg won his latest match against Kevin van den Hove 4-3 after suffering his only defeat in an earlier match – a 4-2 defeat against Sasha Lippe. He has now won four matches and lost one.

Bezzina has already played his sixth match in the group, winning five of them. After having lost in the third match, Bezzina registered three victories in a row – 4-1 against Dimitris Economou, 4-0 against Valentin Militaru and another 4-0 against Lukas Krenik.

Meanwhile, in the Masters (Over 40) championship, Tony Mifsud returned to winning form, defeating Bambos Kousis 3-1, while Simon Camilleri lost 3-2 against Peter Vertommen and beat Iulian Dinca 3-0. Camilleri is guaranteed of a place in the last 32.

Mifsud has now won two matches and lost two others, while Camilleri has won two of the three matches he has played so far.

Mifsud plays his final qualifier today and if he wins, he will also qualify.
