Sliema Open title defence against Marsascala

The fixtures of the Waterpolo BOV national champions, commencing on Wednesday 16 June, were drawn yesterday at the Bank of Valletta Head Office in St Venera.

Champions Sliema McDonalds will play Marsascala on the first day. Prior to this encounter, Neptunes Emirates face Exiles in the opening match.

San Giljan Firetech, Sirens Ritter Sports, Ta Xbiex, Marsaxlokk and Otters will also be taking part in this season’s national league.

On Friday 18 June, Sirens play Exiles and San Giljan face Ta’ Xbiex.

Before the draws, Bank of Valletta chief officer, Peter Perotti and ASA president Dr. Austin Sammut presented the BOV Player of the season awards.

Sliema McDonalds captain, Josie Cachia, who had announced his retirement at the end of last season, was presented with the best Division1 player award while The Exiles Elle et Vire player, Timmy Sullivan, won the Division II award.

Peter Perotti spoke about the continuing friendship between the Bank and the ASA, which now enters its third year. On his part, the ASA president augured for a competitive and disciplined season, and also listed and thanked all those who had contributed towards a successful approach to this year's season.
