Clint Cassar’s team is the clear winner of this year San Michel Team tournament organised by Tennis Club Kordin and sponsored by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc through their product ‘San Michel Table Water’.

The tournament came to an end last Sunday and from early in the afternoon many supporters of the respective teams gathered around the three main courts to cheer up their favourites.

The Clint Cassar team emerged 10-4 winners over the team captained by Stephen Belli. In reaching the final, Cassar’s team defeated that of Darren Buhagiar 9-3, while Belli’s team beat Joe Vella’s team 9-5.

The final offered tennis of a good level but the superiority of Clint Cassar’s team was evident throughout the majority of the games played.

The start was not that easy for the winning team and Stephen Belli’s players managed to capture the first two sets in the Men D encounter.

Soon Cassar’s team drew the score after winning the Men C encounter and both teams won another point after a draw of 1-1 in the Men B game. Two consecutive wins for the tournament winners in the Ladies A and Ladies B category made it clear where the honours for this year’s edition were going.

Clint Cassar’s team secured the win after a draw in the Men A event and another win from the last game in Ladies C. It was evident that this year’s winners were superior in the women category winning all six sets in Ladies A, B and C. This fact determined the final result in favour of Clint Cassar’s team.

Presentation of Shield and trophies will be held during a barbecue at the club on 3 July.
