A 27-year-old man from Luqa is being held by the police after the seizure of almost one kilogramme of heroin on Monday afternoon, in a police and customs enforcement section operation.

The drug was found hidden in a container which had arrived in port in the morning after leaving Genoa, Italy some days earlier.

Duty magistrate Giovanni Grixti is holding an inquiry.
