Court: Three Years and three months imprisonment for theft

A man was yesterday sentenced by Magistrate Lawrence Quintano to three years and three months imprisonment after he was found guilty of stealing jewellery and other valuable items in 2005.

Anthony Gialanze Whiteford, 27, from Sta Venera was found guilty of stealing jewellery and other items, including electronic apparatus, with a total value estimated to be in the region of e14,000.

The theft took place on the afternoon of 8 October, 2005 from a couple’s house in Pieta. The couple found their possessions in chaos and some e10,000 worth of jewellery missing.

Other things were also missing, such as a television, MP player and a video camera, which alone was worth over e2,300. Fingerprints were found on site and matched those of the accused.

The accused was also found guilty of damaging the couple’s property and relapsing.
