‘C&C’ By Erin Stewart Tanti

Malta Independent Sunday, 24 October 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

C&C is a love story of sorts and follows the aftermath of a series of devastating events that leads into aspects of the absurd, experiential and addressing such contemporary issues such as egocentric love, self-pleasure and sexual tension. The debut play by Stewsoft Theatre and indeed, young local playwright and founder, Erin Stewart Tanti, promises to cut no corners and deliver the punches; sharp, steady and firm.

Founded in 2010, Stewsoft Theatre was created with the intention to work on theatrical productions, that do not simply sell, but that actually deserve to be sold. The aim is to attempt a portrait of current issues, a social commentary of sorts, through a variety of works that all, individually, have something distinct and particular to say. Identity. And in a country where freedom of expression is such a noosed luxury, we aim to speak as we ought to, and not as we are expected to.

Directed by Erin Stewart Tanti and featuring Mik Pisani and Shazia Khan Darmanin, C&C will be staged on 26, 27, 28 November at MITP Theatre, St Christopher Street, Valletta. This production is certified 18 and is suitable for adults only.
