Earlier this week, the 2010 honorees of the 13th edition of the annual World Tourism Award were presented at World Travel Market in London, England. The World Tourism Award, inaugurated in 1997, was established to recognise “the extraordinary initiatives by individuals, companies, organisations, destinations and attractions for outstanding accomplishments in the travel industry.”

This year’s honorees, who have been awarded for their dedication to sustainable tourism and the preservation of natural and cultural heritage, are The Travel Foundation in the UK, Royal Caribbean Cruises’ Ocean Fund and the Museum for African Art, (New York City). Corinthia Hotels, together with American Express, International Herald Tribune and Reed Travel Exhibitions, co-sponsor this prestigious Award.
