Helga Ellul, chief executive officer of Playmobil Malta Ltd and president of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, has been awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Germany by German ambassador Bernd Braun on behalf of the president of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Mrs Ellul has been a resident of Malta for more than three decades. In 1976 she was appointed a director of Playmobil Malta Ltd. She has held the position for 35 years, turning the company into one of the most successful in Malta. With a current workforce of over 900, Playmobil Malta Ltd is a major employer on the island.

Mrs Ellul is also involved in various activities in the local business community. Ambassador Braun commented that Mrs Ellul has always stressed the need for education and training in her work. “These are areas,” he said, “which are of great importance not only for the further development of Playmobil Malta Ltd, but also for that of Malta.”

Ambassador Braun also emphasised that Mrs Ellul has played a vital role in developing and strengthening German Maltese relations.
