Melita is marking its 20th anniversary by offering customers a free internet upgrade to 20 Megabits per second, for a week. About 50,000 households and businesses subscribed to Melita’s 5 and 10 Megabits per second internet service will receive the free one week upgrade to Melita’s 20 Megabits per second connection.

The free upgrades will roll-out region by region over a seven-week period. The first upgrades started yesterday in Mellieha, Bugibba, St. Paul’s Bay, Qawra, Mgarr, Madliena, Xemxija, Bahar ic-Caghaq, Salina, Manikata, Burmarrad, Bidnija, Wardija, Selmun and St Paul’s Bay. Watching films, chatting to friends and family, listening to music or simply surfing the internet becomes all the more enjoyable when connected to a high speed 20 Megabits per second connection.

At the same time, Melita has also commenced technical upgrades to its network in preparation for fibre powered internet reaching ultra-high speeds of 100 Megabits per second. This will be the fastest internet speed available in the Maltese Islands. The service is expected to be commercially available nation-wide this summer.

Preparations are also underway for the launch of the first Video On Demand service in Malta later this year. This service is set to revolutionise the way we watch TV with an extensive library of films and top series to choose from at the viewer’s convenience.
