Bonello Carries GSSE time trial form to the national championships

Etienne Bonello produced another significant time trial last Sunday during the first round of the time trial national championships in Mriehel Bypass.

The Team Greens riders clocked the 25km distance in 35:47 with Mosta Af Sign Studio Time Trial specialist Steve Sciberras in second place in 36:29.

Jason Vella of Team Greens also rode to a brilliant third place just 10 seconds away from Sciberras.

The race was very close at first as the top cyclists clocked similar times in the initial laps. However, Bonello produced an emphatic effort in the last kilometres to grab the win with a margin of 42 seconds.

The race was smoothly organised by the Malta Cycling Federation, together with the assistance of the Malta Police and club officials. The next round of the time trial championhsip will be held tomorrow at the Bahar ic-Caghaq coast road
