A 22-year-old sushi chef from Zabbar, Claire Marie Busuttil was crowned the winner for Miss World Malta 201 at the Grandmaster Suites Hilton Malta last weekend.

This contest is organized each year by Modelle International under the direction of Sue Rossi and Claudia Calleja and is the only contest which entitles a Maltese representative to participate in the Miss World International Beauty Pageant.

The Miss World finals will be held on 6 November in London where Malta will be participating with another 120 other countries, in front of 2.5 billion viewers.

Claire Marie, who also won Face of Golden Rose, Miss Health & Fitness and Miss Spinning Jewellery sponsored by 202 Jewellery and Best Hair by Angel was presented with valuable gifts and vouchers as well as a memorable award.

In second place came Tiziana Cutajar followed by Dajana Laketic, who also won Miss Personality. Other titles presented during the final night were: Best Photogenic Looks - Zoe Calleja, Best Belle Gambe By Zulieka - Janice Azzopardi, D Search For Miss World Malta Award - Lara Cassar Dellia who also won the titlie of Beauty With A Purpose Award.

Face of Gwida went to Josielle Farrugia.

During the event, all the 30 contestants took part in swimwear sponsored by Koko, and paraded in exclusive evening wear in front of the judges. The 12 finalists chosen during the first part of the show were asked to give a message in English until finally the winner was announced.

The show was compared by Mr Charles Saliba and Sarah Agius while entertainment was provided by Steve Cole.

The audience was also treated to fashion shows from different houses, namely Koko, Mangano by Street Fashion and Le Ceil. A team of hairdressers were responsible for the contestant’s hair: The Gallery Hair Studio, MAF Hairdressing, The New Hair room, Paxanas Hair & Beauty, Avandgarde, Innovations by Ro, JHS Hair & Beauty & Vigorous. Natasha Polidano and her team were responsible for the make-up sponsored by Golden Rose
