Air Malta welcomed the news that visa applications have started being processed at the Maltese embassy in Tripoli.

It said it is closely working with the Maltese government and Libyan officials with a view to resume services to Tripoli and possibly Benghazi as soon as the situation permits and approvals are granted.

It added it will be announcing its schedule of flights to Libya as soon as the airport is open to commercial airlines and the safety and security of Air Malta passengers, crew and aircraft are not comprised.
