Handball - Successful Experience for Luxol in Denmark and England

Malta Independent Sunday, 25 September 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Luxol HC have just ended their preparation for the upcoming season on a high note.

The ladies team went to Billund in Denmark for some friendlies against three Danish sides. The team arrived on Friday and played few hours later against Filskov.

It was a good game from the Maltese side but after a good half, they experienced a drop in the second half. A late comeback fell short and Luxol lost the game by three goals.

Against Give Kfum the Luxol girls won by a two-goal margin. The girls played a good game against a more technical side and managed to keep Give Kfum at bay in the last minutes. Grindsted was the best Danish side of the three and though the Luxol girls did their best to keep the score close, the physical tenure was long gone and Grindsted managed to win a one sided game by some well executed fast breaks.

The first week of September saw the male counterparts of Luxol going to London to face some English teams. The teams consisted of foreign players from well cultured countries in handball like France, Algeria, Serbia and Poland, thus the experience was a good test for the side in purple.

In the first game Luxol faced Great Dane. The game started on a balanced tune but Great Dane soon took command for a one-sided 34-18 score.

Against Olympia it was the same end, but on a different tune. Olympia started really fast but Luxol came back in the second part of the game. The end was only a one side play from Olympia.

Luxol replied in the third game against Ruislip Eagles and played a good game but lost by a five-goal margin. The surprise arrived in the last game against Thames where Luxol won the game by three goals. It was not only the win that was greeted but also the good performance which the boys offered.

These two experiences could not go through without the help and support of Living Well and Nordic Bet.

Joseph Tanti experiences handball in the Bundesliga

Joseph Tanti, director and player of Luxol Handball Club, was in Germany for a week to train with a Bundesliga team and speak about the possibility of an agreement between Bergisher Handball Club and Luxol.

Tanti learned a lot from this experience and Bergisher Handball Club agreed to support and help Luxol Handball Club.

Tanti was invited to join the training with BHC’s senior Bundesliga team, their second team and the U/20s Bundesliga team. The level high as the Bundesliga is the top league of handball in the world.

Luxol will be supporting BHC junior teams in their visit to Malta in April 2012.
