The Gozo Creative Theatre Club will be performing Spring’s Awakening in collaboration with the Gozo Culture and Information Office of the Ministry for Gozo.
Sometimes called the tragedy of childhood, Spring Awakening was the first play penned by the German satirist Frank Wedekind in the late 19th century. It deals with issues that continue to plague us: Teen suicide, sexual abuse, botched abortions.
Spring Awakening is laid in three acts consisting almost entirely of dialogues among the children. The play deals with a group of schoolchildren just entering the age of puberty – imaginative beings speculating about the mysteries of life.
The Gozo Creative Theatre Club is an established drama group that is mostly known for its innovative, experimental and creative theatrical productions. George Mizzi, artistic director, will be directing a group of actors who include Julia Camilleri, Mark Laurence Zammit, Sharona Refalo, Joseph Xuereb, Marlene Saliba, George Camilleri, Jamie Camilleri, Dianne A. Portelli Galea, Cettina Scicluna, Franco Scicluna, Charlene Galea, Paul Stellini, Darren Muscat, Andy Fava, Joseph Muscat, Eman Borg, Marvic Bajada, Keith Camilleri, Marvic Vella, Frank Buhagiar, Charles J.
