Athletics: Jason Martin, Giselle Camilleri Win respective categories

The Fleur de Lys 5 K road race was held on Sunday morning.  

It was also the second leg of the MAAA Road Running League.  

The route is flat and fast running mostly along the Aquaduct in Mdina Road finishing in front of Eurosport in Psaila Street and in ideal weather conditions good times were registered.

In the men’s section, Jason Martin of Mellieha won the 5k race in 15:03 minutes followed by young Simon Spiteri of Saint Patrick’s in 15:17 minutes closely followed by Gerald Grech of Libertas in 15:18.

The women’s section was won by Giselle Camilleri of Saint Patrick’s in 16:28 minutes followed by Lisa Bezzina of Pembnroke in 17:18, and Carmen Hili of Saint Patrick’s in 17:38.

The Saint Teresa College Primary School of St Venera won the most representative trophy, while Pembroke Athletics Club was the most represented club.

A 5 K walk and a 1.5 kilometre fun run for juniors was also organised.  

All proceeds will be presented by the Administrative Committee of Fleur de Lys to the Community Chest Fund
