Juventus Looking to extend their unbeaten run against Cesena

Malta Independent Saturday, 3 December 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Juventus will look to extend their unbeaten run to 13 matches and regain top spot in tomorrow’s match against Cesena.

Every other team other than Juventus has lost at least two matches this season. However, Milan have now overtook them at the top after last night’s 2-0 win against Genoa.

Juventus seemed on the verge of losing their first match when trailing 3-1 against Napoli on Tuesday. But the team clawed its way back to snatch a point in a 3-3 draw.

Simone Pepe fired in the equaliser 10 minutes from time for his third goal in as many games.

“I don’t think I’ve ever scored three goals in three games ... I don’t know if I’ve ever scored more either,” Pepe said. “The result felt like a victory to us because of how it came about. We are a very united group and we don’t ever give up. And we showed that.”

Juventus will be without Andrea Pirlo, who is suspended after picking up his fourth booking of the season at Napoli.

Napoli will attempt to get over their disappointment at letting a two-goal lead slide when they host bottom side Lecce today.

Also today, Inter will be looking to continue their recent resurgence against an Udinese side struggling on its travels this season.

Udinese are imperious at home, having won all six games. However, away from the Stadio Fruili it is a different story as they have picked up just six points out of a possible 18.

After a terrible start to the season, Inter have lost one of their past five league games but still trail Juventus by 12 points.

“We mustn’t think about Juve’s advantage,” Inter captain Javier Zanetti said. “We have to only think about making up lost ground and at the end of the season we’ll see where we managed to arrive.
