The fifth round of ASM-Poiatti Autocross and the Motocross third round of racing at Ta’ Qali will take place tomorrow. First races start at 11.00am.

Patrick Cassar on his Opel Corsa won all of the three qualifying heats including the nine-lapClass A final race. He took the lead from the start and built a gap as the race made progress.

Manuel Muscat and Joseph Calleja both on Opel cars followed Cassar along the track to the finish. Calleja, Birmingham, on his Suzuki, and Matthew Borg raced close to each other while battling for third to fifth place. Birmingham added pressure and won over Calleja with Borg winning fifth place.

Vince Farrugia on his VW Polo took the lead from the Start. He was closely followed by Josef Abela and Philip Joe Vella both on Opel cars. Later, Vella fouled Abela which resulted in both cars partly loosing control and placing to Keith Borg and Philip Grima. Both took advantage of the situation and won second and third place respectively. Abela and Vella finished in fourth and fifth place respectively.

A glance into the Championship Charts. Carmel Borg on a 250cc Suzuki RMZ is leading ahead of Clayton Camilleri (KTM SXF) and Stefan Dimech on a Honda CRF in the Class ‘A’ (MX2) Experienced Riders National Motocross Championship.

Charles Borg, on his Honda CRF, is leading in Class ‘B’ ahead of Arthur Micallef on a Honda CRF.  Patrick Cassar is leading the Autocross Class ‘A’ Championship and Christian Galea is runner-up.  Class B Keith Borg on a Nova is followed by Melo Zammit on an Escort Mk3, Joseph Calleja and Matthew Borg on Opel cars and Vince Farrugia on a VW Polo.

ASM will be organising a Car Demolition Race on 18 December. This will be a part of the 18th consecutive special fund raising event in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund. 29 competitors are already registered for the Demolition race. Autocross and Motocross will demonstrate their skills too.  High Authorities attending this event will deliver their season’s messages to the ASM members and spectators present.
