Triathlon: Danica Bonello Spiteri Runs for top honours in Leeds

Triathlete  Danica Bonello Spiteri’s 2011 race performances have landed her two nominations for The Leeds & Bradford Triathlon Club Awards. She has made the final top five in two award categories namely, the female Athlete of the Year for her numerous wins and placings in British triathlons and female Single Performance of the Year for her first in age group in the Outlaw Ironman Triathlon.

The winner of each category will be determined by the 500 or so members of Leeds and Bradford Triathlon club which is the leading Tri club in the Yorkshire area.

Bonello Spiteri who has already won Malta’s Triathlete of the Year award and has been honoured with an MOC Sports nomination, has also made the final top five in the upcoming Sportmalta Awards.

A doctor by profession, who moved to the UK to specialise in Sport & Exercise Medicine, Bonello Spiteri has also been selected by the London 2012 organisers to be part of the Olympic Games medical team.

She will be based in the ExCel arena which will host Boxing, Fencing, Judo, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Boccia and Paralympic competitions .
