Qormi School to be completed within nine months

Malta Independent Wednesday, 7 March 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Education Minister Dolores Cristina yesterday visited the new secondary school for girls at Qormi, which is still being built, saying that school building created jobs in the construction industry, ancillary trades and in the education sector.

The foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister last April and the building will be completed within nine months. Five huts in the old school it was replacing are being refurbished to serve as indoor sports facilities.

The school will have a population of 1,000 students, with 50 classes, four technology workshops, nine science laboratories, five computer laboratories, three arts classes and three laboratories for home economics, among other facilities.

There will be energy saving facilities and intelligent lighting and water reservoirs will be included for rainwater to provide toilet flushing, cleaning and irrigation water.
