Handball Introduced at KMS Skolasport in Mosta

Malta Independent Saturday, 7 April 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

One of the most uprising sports at KMS Skolasport is the game of handball. This sport, popular with both genders, is a combination of basketball, football and netball. This team-based game is played on a court about the size of two basketball courts, and the objective of the game is score more goals than the opposing team.

KMS Skolasport coach Roslyn Fsadni, said that through training youngsters are becoming more coordinated and flexible, while understanding the importance of teamwork. “We have a consistent group who train hard every Saturday. The objective for this semester is to further develop their physical movement, and improve their passing skills in the game,” explained Ms Fsadni, who supervises the handball group at Maria Regina Boys Secondary, the newly opened KMS Skolasport venue in Mosta.

KMS Skolasport actively seeks to give children the opportunity to get physical exercise and learn new sporting skills. Organised by the Kunsill Malti għall-iSport and sponsored by Kellogg’s for the past 12 years, the programme encourages children to take part and enjoy sports outside their school curriculum.

KMS Skolasport, with the support of Kellogg’s, the world leading provider of breakfast cereals, provides children and teenagers with a holistic educational programme that improves their sporting abilities and exposes them to team building activities. The philosophy of participation and not competition is practiced throughout all KMS Skolasport venues, giving the children a better chance to develop their capabilities and skills at their own pace.
