Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, ended his official visit in Malta yesterday, having attended an inauguration of a memorial to Private Charles McCorrie at the Msida Bastion garden before visiting Inspire centre for inclusion, therapy and leisure in Marsascala.

His Royal Highness is a first cousin to the Queen and his visit formed part of the Royal tour celebrating her Diamond Jubilee. He participated in the weekend’s events to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the George Cross award and paid tribute to the Maltese people’s “tremendous bravery” during World War II.
