Two late goals by substitute Ryan Micallef and Adam Smeir have put the Magpies back in the Premier League after an absence of 11 years. Under the guidance of President Michael Scirha, this was Rabat second successive promotion.

This was a tough game for Rabat against a side which played a tremendous game-plan and were aggressive into an extent that one taught that their live depended on this match. Even though the Saints in mid-table position and without the suspended Glen Tanti, Kenneth Spiteri and Mark Pullicino they never conceded and inch.

Meanwhile Rabat knew how much important a win would mean so from kick-off they started to play the aggressive way.

Rabat’s goals came six minutes from the end.

Substitute Ryan Micallef put his faithful wild when he slotted home from close range, after Adam Smeir had won a ball inside the Saints area, who saw Micallef at the far post and the 19-year old did the rest.

Deep into injury time Adam Smeir sealed the win for the Magies after a fine move in which Justin Felice had ran wild on the right flank to cross for the striker who made no mistake from close range.
