London 2012 Olympics: Maltese Contingent leaves for London this morning

The Maltese contingent is in London and is all set to take part gracefully in tomorrow’s Opening Ceremony at the Olympic Stadium.

It is composed of the MOC president Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco, MOC secretary general Joe Cassar and David Azzopardi, MOC Director of Finance.

MOC vice-president Julian Pace Bonello is the Head of Delegation (Chef de Mission) while Mark Cutajar, Director of Sport, will be his assistant.

The other MOC officials accompanying the contingent are all from the MOC Medical Commission headed by Dr Lucienne Attard, Adele Muscat and Milos Stanisavljevic.

The five athletes representing the country are William Chetcuti (Shooting – Double Trap), Andrew Chetcuti and Nikki Muscat (Swimming), Rachid Chouhal and Diane Borg (Athletics).

Coaches Jimmy Bugeja (Shooting), Andy Colbourn (Swimming) and Mario Bonello (Athletics) also form part of the Malta contingent.

As was announced last week, William Chetcuti will be Malta’s flag bearer at the march past of athletes and officials during tomorrow’s Opening Ceremony – it is being screened live on TVM2, starting from 10pm.
