Malta Independent Sunday, 19 August 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

PricewaterhouseCoopers in Malta this week announced that it is opening a nursery and childcare centre opposite their offices in Mill Street, Qormi.

The centre, which will be called ‘first steps @ PwC’, will be operated by first steps, a joint venture between Chiswick House School and Giggles Nursery and Day Care. The centre will not only cater for the children of PwC staff, but will also accept applications from third parties.

Kevin Valenzia, the Territory Senior Partner at PwC in Malta, said, “I am really pleased to be able to announce the imminent opening of our nursery and childcare centre. This is an exciting project that we have been working on for some time, and I want to express my appreciation to all those who have been involved in making this happen. The centre’s location is excellent for our purposes, and will go some way to making the lives of those of our people with young children that much easier. Helping our people achieve a proper work life balance in a professional environment has always been high on our list of priorities, and with around 450 people on our payroll, it is vital for the continued success of our firm that we ensure, as far as is practicable, that we do all that we can to assist. We have been able to access ERDF funds for this project, and have received all the help we required from the staff at the Department for Social Welfare Standards, for which I am most grateful.”

Bernie Mizzi and Lucia Cachia, on behalf of first steps, added, “We are delighted to have come together as a joint venture to give PwC, through first steps @ PwC, an outstanding nursery and childcare service. The educational programmes and solid reputation that Chiswick House School and Giggles Nursery and Day Care enjoy will be evident at first steps @ PwC. This operation at PwC is our flagship, and we hope to see other first steps opening up for other well-established companies in the not-so-distant future.”

Applications for first steps @PwC are now being accepted, and should be made in the first instance to either Sharon Scerri at [email protected], Lucia Cachia at [email protected], tel. no. 9982 4115, or Charlene Camilleri at [email protected], tel. no. 2564 7192.
