GlaxoSmithKline (Malta) Ltd is introducing a Dental Week initiative between 5 and 9 November, to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of one’s teeth. A number of participating dentists will be offering free dental check-ups and information on dental health to people of all ages. Visitors will have their teeth examined and will be provided with free advice on how to maintain healthy teeth and gums. “The GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Dental Week campaign aims to reach out to people and help them understand the importance of regular oral care. We all know we should visit the dentist every six months, but in the absence of problems it’s easy to let those appointments slip. However, visiting the dentist regularly is one of the most important steps you can take for better overall health,” said Monica Abdilla, Country manager for GSK Consumer Healthcare. Teeth play an important part in everyone’s health and well-being. They affect how one looks, speaks and eats, and can easily influence the way one feels and enjoys life. Daily preventive care such as brushing the teeth twice a day with Aquafresh will help maintain strong teeth, healthy gums and constant fresh breath. Experiencing a slight twinge or an occasional short sharp pain when eating or drinking something hot or cold could be the first sign of sensitive teeth. This is a common problem which affects one in three persons. Sensitivity, however, could be an indication of an underlying problem. Brushing teeth twice a day for two minutes with toothpaste such as Sensodyne that is specially formulated to protect and relieve sensitive teeth is one of the best ways to keep a healthy mouth. GSK also has solutions for those who wear dentures. Sometimes it is difficult for denture wearers to get used to the denture. Even if dentures fit well, just a few dabs of denture adhesive, like Corega, can help seal out food particles and help the person feel more comfortable and confident. The Corega range also includes cleansers, leaving dentures free of bacteria and fungi, and fresh all day. “Our mouth is the passageway into the rest of our body, so we need to take care of it! GSK Dental Week is giving everyone the opportunity to give priority to their professional dental care. Hence, I wish to encourage everyone to review their weekly schedule and make an appointment today with their preferred dentist,” added Ms Abdilla. During the Dental Week, participating dentists will be distributing leaflets and informative material on dental health and GSK’s dental products. The offer is subject to availability of appointments by the participating dental clinics.
