A road worker was seriously injured at Ta’ Pennellu, limits of Mellieha.

According to a police statement at around 1.40pm it was informed that a man from Zebbug driving a steamroller had to jump off, probably due to a mechanical failure. The man was working on the reconstruction of the Mellieha bypass.

He was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital by an ambulance, but fortunately his condition is not life threatening. The police have opened an investigation.
