Malta Independent Wednesday, 12 December 2012, 08:47 Last update: about 11 years ago

"Tenebrae” was the theme chosen for this year’s APS Bank. Flagship Concert held at St. John’s Co-Cathedral on the 9th November during which works by three renowned Maltese composers, Paolino Vassallo, Antonio Nani and Pietro Paolo Bugeja, was performed under the guidance of Maestro Michael Laus.

Tenebrae refers to the Catholic Church’s liturgy of the combined offices of Matins and Lauds for the last three days of Holy Week, during which candles were successively extinguished leaving the church in darkness. The works presented were in fact written specifically to be performed during this liturgical rite celebrated in Maltese churches. As in previous APS Bank concerts, the music was recorded on CD under the supervision and editing of international recording label – Gega New. The bank has the pleasure to announce that the general public can now pre-order the CD while benefiting from a limited offer, a truly unique opportunity to appreciate this music once again. Interested parties can also obtain a selection of CDs pertaining to previous APS Bank’s Concerts covering Maltese music from the 18th century to the present times by either sending an email on [email protected] or downloading the brochure from the bank’s website and sending the order to the following address: Attn: Marketing Unit, APS Bank Ltd, Tower Street, Birkirkara BKR 4012.
