‘La Voce Del Corpo’: movie and discussion with director Luca Vullo

Malta Independent Sunday, 6 January 2013, 11:29 Last update: about 11 years ago

A funny, fantastic and informative journey through typical Sicilian body language will be undertaken later this month.  The Sicilians are famous, among other things, for their very peculiar way of accompanying every word, conversation or greeting with gestures, facial expressions and movements of the body.

The audience is guided in this journey by the trio of guide-actors Evelyn Fama’, Rosario Petyx and Vincenzo Volo as well as well-known personalities from the world of culture and show business such as Pippo Baudo, Emma Dante, Mimmo Cuticchio, Lucia Sardo and Salvo La Rosa.

The film score includes pieces by bands such as Agricantus, Tinturia and Ipercussonici. It has English sub-titles but these will not really be necessary as the body language will do the speaking!

After the one-hour movie, an interactive discussion will take place with director Luca Vullo on body language, movie making and any other subject that may be addressed by the audience.

Luca Vullo (Sicily) is a director and producer who has directed short films, video clips and documentaries. Among these, Dallo Zolfo al Carbone (2008) won the highest number of awards in Italy in the category ‘Low Cost Documentary’, while the following year it was shortlisted for the David di Donatello and the Globo d’Oro Awards.

In 2011, Vullo was nominated Artistic Director of the 3rd Edition of ‘Lampedusa in Festival’ and produced the short movie ‘VRT’ interpreted by Massimo Dapporto and Benedicta Boccoli; ‘VRT’ has been awarded a prize by Rutger Hauer during the “I’ve Seen Fi9lms - International Film Festival” (Milano, 2011).

‘La Voce Del Corpo’ (The Voice of the Body) is Luca Vullo’s latest work and has been screened in various European locations before coming to Malta this January.
