Malta Cultural Institute concert

The sixth concert of the Malta Cultural Institute 2012/2013 Season will be held on Sunday 3 March at Le Meridien St Julian’s Hotel & Spa, at 7pm.

Three elements from Musique De Chambre: Pro Arte, Noel Beck (Clarinet), Antoine Frendo (Viola) and Elaine Mercieca (Piano) will be playing ‘Double Concert Op.88 for Clarinet & Viola by Max Bruch, transcribed fro Trio by the composer himself.  Clarinettist Noel Beck graduated in clarinet performing from the Mozarteum, Salzburg and later followed courses by Georgina Dobree in London.  Violinist & Viola Player Antoine Frendo pursued his advanced studies with Pierre Neriri, Yfrah Neaman and Aaron Rosand. He has diplomas in chamber music such as that of the Accademia Chigiana, Siena.   Pianist Elaine Mercieca obtained distinctions in the diplomas of AVCM (Hons.), LVCM (Hons.) and LTCL.  She also plays the Violin.  

Tenor Joseph Aquilina studied voice in Malta and London.  He has a very successful career of performances in Opera, Operetta, Musicals, Oratorio and Sacred Music both in Malta and abroad.  He has performed successfully in England, Italy, Bulgaria, Australia, South Africa and Korea.  He has several CD recordings released to his credit, which include works by leading composers and released under international record labels Gega New and the Balkan Multimedia Centre.  Aquilina will be accompanied on the Pianoforte by Elaine Mercieca and he will be singing a selection of some of the best loved Italian Classical songs.

The Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Dance is renowned for the quality of its teaching in a friendly and fun environment with a reputation for its commitment to the highest standards.  They will be presenting excerpts from famous Ballets like ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Don Quixote’, ‘Esmeralda’ and ‘Sleeping Beauty’.

13-year-old Harpist Michela Chircop will be accompanying one of the dances being presented, a ‘Pas de Trois’.  This is Michela’s debut as she will be playing her first public performance.
