A new position has been created within the ministry for home affairs and national security to accommodate Ramona Attard’s €30,000 pay, which does not include ancilliary expenses.

Ms Attard is now the ministry’s deputy chief of staff as well as their communications coordinator.

A government spokesperson had told The Malta Independent Online last week that Ms Attard will be assigned “additional tasks,” over and above her appointment as communications coordinator.

These “additional tasks” have now been given an official name and Ms Attard will deputise for chief of staff Silvio Scerri.

The engineering of the new deputy chief of staff position comes in the wake of the fact that Ms Attard is keeping her €30,000 pay after leaving her position as head of secretariat for parliamentary secretary Ian Borg, initially to take up the position of communications coordinator.
