Fenech accuses Mizzi of playing musical chairs

Estimates being presented by the new government are increasing the deficit within Enemalta Corporation, PN MP Tonio Fenech said in parliament this evening.

He said that Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi is implying that no plan existed for the Water Services Corporation before he was appointed minister.

“This is obvious since when a minister is newly appointed it’s as if he was the first to set the ball rolling and provided a ray of sunshine,” he said, referring to Minister Mizzi.

“If one were to log on to the corporation’s website one would easily come across a plan on drainage treatment and water conservation,” Mr Fenech said, emphasising that the corporation had a structured plan in hand and was working well.

Turning to ARMS Ltd, Mr Fenech said that the first thing he had to address were the massive queues at ARMS Ltd and the blocked accounts which identified bills that were considered to be as high consumption bills.

He said that to date, no massive change had been conducted within ARMS and the only changes made were related to chairmanships.

“First it was Anthony Valvo who was made chairman and suddenly Tony Meilaq has been appointed instead for reasons that are unknown,” he said, requesting Mr Mizzi to state what was behind the sudden change.

Mr Mizzi this evening revealed in parliament that Mr Meilaq will serve as ARMS Ltd chairman as from today. Mr Meilaq also holds the post of chairman at WSC.

Mr Fenech said that it’s high time Mr Mizzi rolls up his sleeves and addresses the real issues instead of playing musical chairs related to board appointments.
