William Chetcuti has won Malta’s first ever gold medal at the Mediterranean Games, finishing first in the double trap event
Chetcuti hit 29 out of 30 in his first round and 26 out of 30 in his second, 28 out of 30 in his third, 29 out of 30 in his fourth round and 27 out of 30 to make it to the semi-finals with a total 139/150.
He then hit 28 out of 30 to qualify for the medal match which he won.
Nathan Lee Xuereb managed 123/150 and failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
