A man was arrested following the receipt of an anonymous report that water was being stolen from an unused public toilet yesterday, at about 7.30pm, in Xatt il-Braken, Marsa, the police said.

Upon arrival, the police found a white van parked beside the public toilet which seemed derelict at first glance. However, upon closer inspection, a pipe was seen connecting a thousand-litre water tank loaded in the vehicle to a government water main.

Following further investigation by the Valletta Police Station, its owner was traced and arrested for further enquiry.
