Former chairman of Labour’s think-tank ‘Fondazzjoni Ideat’ Aaron Farrugia is to be appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Freeport Corporation.
Contacted, Mr Farrugia confirmed with this portal that he will be officially appointed CEO in the coming days.
He had been appointed secretary of the Labour Party’s team that drew up the electoral manifesto in 2012, resigning from Fondazzjoni Ideat chairperson.
Mr Farrugia had also served as president of the Labour Youth Forum and had been elected deputy mayor of Ta’ Xbiex between 2005 and 2008.
Mr Farrugia is being appointed as the CEO of the regulator of the Malta Freeport. The Freeport is divided into two: the terminal’s operations run by a private company and the regulator (the Malta Freeport Corporation).
