Valletta 2018 sets up Valletta Forum

The Valletta 2018 Foundation has set up the Valletta Forum, a consultative board which will bring together different bodies from the capital, coming from different sectors, to advise Valletta 2018 Foundation about subjects relating directly to Valletta and its inhabitants.

Foundation chairman Jason Micallef told a reception for associations from Valetta, held at the Upper Barrakka gardens, that the Europeal Capital of Culture cannot be successful if there is no contribution by many, especially those who love Valletta.

Culture parliamentary secretary Jose Herrera thanked the Valletta commercial community and Valletta associations for their commitment to keep Valletta alive. That day’s activity, he said, is proof of his ministry’s belief in inclussivity, with the community of Valletta being given the opportunity not only to make its voice heard but also take part in the first consultative forum under the foundation (facebook.com/Valletta2018; twitter.com/Valletta_2018 2)

He urged everyone to be part of the mission, saying that Valletta 2018 is a showcase of everything that Malta offers, and that Valletta 2018 will go beyond that year.

The Valletta Forum will bring together round a discussion table entities and associations in the capital, to advise and develop a policy about subjects which directly affect the capital and its inhabitants. It will be made up of a president or equivalent and its operational system will be announced at its first session, expected by the end of the year.

It will make recommendations to the foundation on matters of social and public importance, with particular reference to the realities of Valletta and its residents. It has to insist constantly and consistently to be an effective catalyst between the foundation and the capital’s residents.
