Malta Independent Friday, 11 October 2013, 13:13 Last update: about 11 years ago

The new AppleCore Foods warehouse, temperature-controlled facilities and offices were officially inaugurated during an end of season partners’ event held recently.

Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business Chris Cardona presided over the inauguration of the new premises at Hard Rocks Business Park in Naxxar.
During his speech, Minister Cardona stated that the government recognises that small businesses are a crucial part of the Maltese economy and companies like AppleCore Foods are protagonists in the government’s mission to achieve economic growth.

AppleCore Foods Ltd’s success, continued Minister Cardona, also lies in the fact that its founders have recognised the potential of financing schemes, such as those being strengthened, supported and extended by the government, including the Jeremie Scheme.

The event was also attended by Jim Hennessy, Ambassador of Ireland, who launched the event with an opening speech. He congratulated AppleCore Foods on its success and thanked them for promoting and distributing Irish food products in Malta.

The Irish Food Marketing Board, Bord Bia, also supported the event.  The event also featured a charcuterie stand by Beretta, various cheeses by Windyridge and Parmareggio, Fries by Lamb Weston, Premium Spanish Olive Oil by La Rambla, Coffee by Douwe Egberts; as well as a range of Sicilian wines by Avide.

Apart from importing, selling and distributing food and food-related products, AppleCore Foods also offer third party storage space in temperature controlled and ambient facilities. Today the company employs 32 people on a full-time basis.
