Europeana Facebook competition deadline extended

Malta Independent Wednesday, 16 October 2013, 19:27 Last update: about 11 years ago

Due to an enthusiastic response by the Maltese public, Europeana is giving the island a few more days to participate in its nation-wide cultural competition. Everyone is invited to enter the competition which now closes on 23rd October, via the recently launched ‘Malta in Europe – Europeana’ Facebook page (www.facebook.com/EuropeanaMalta).

You are invited to visit the Facebook page, vote for the image that you think sums up what it means to be from Malta in Europe today, and say why you chose to give it your vote. You would then automatically be in the chance of winning a Nexus tablet!

The images have been nominated by people from across the island as part of a cultural competition which is run by Europeana.eu, Europe’s digital museum, library, gallery and archive, together with its Maltese partner, AcrossLimits. The competition is a key element of a national campaign to introduce the people of Malta to the cultural treasures of Europeana, where you can go online to find more than 29 million items from 2,300 cultural institutions across Europe, including books and manuscripts, photos and paintings, sheet music and recordings amongst others.

The Europeana website and the Malta in Europe – Europeana Facebook page are accessible at www.europeana.eu and www.facebook.com/EuropeanaMalta, respectively. You are also invited to follow Europeana on Twitter@europeanaeu and #AllezCulture.
