The Confederation of Malta Trade Unions – CMTU is prepared to propose more bilateral discussions with other Confederations in Malta with the sole intention of enhancing relations where possible and make the necessary efforts to re-build trust amongst unions in general in the Trade Union Movement, the CMTU said in a statement.

The CMTU has already made initial contact with the FOR.U.M and is willing to extend the discussions with the GWU. This is also necessary since it is essentially important that Unions need to start understanding one another better which in the end will help them in the way they present themselves and in the way they conduct their business collectively. Last but not least is the image that Trade Unions present to their members and the public in general which still leaves a lot to desire, the statement said.

The CMTU said that it will also look to the restart of discussions on Trade Union Unity through the mediation of Profs. Edward Zammit
