The Home Affairs Ministry issued a statement asking whether Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil is in favour or against of the Individual Investor Programme – known as the citizenship scheme.

In a statement, the ministry said nobody has understood Dr Busuttil as on the one hand he says that he is totally against the scheme and on the other hand wants a discussion to improve it.

The ministry said that Dr Busuttil, after realising that he has painted himself in a corner, now wants to discuss the issue. The government said that it has been in contact with the Opposition for months, with some exponents speaking in favour of the scheme until Dr Busuttil started to attack the idea.
