Three not-so-little pigs & friends rally their support towards L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank campaign

Children of all ages had a wonderful time at the Kitchen Garden on Monday as they were greeted by none other than the three mascots of the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank campaign. Bank of Valletta teamed up with the Office of the President to organise an event full of activities for children in order to raise more awareness about the campaign whilst helping to raise more funds.

At the same time, this event was a showcase of volunteerism at its best. Actors from Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna re-enacted episodes from our past, and a team from Ziguzajg Arts Festival gave children a sneak peak of their shows. Children visiting Kitchen Garden were also treated to face-painting, balloon modeling and had the opportunity to join a twenty-minute tour of the Ghorfa as well as walk one of the four-legged friends, residents at the Kitchen Garden itself. Cartoon characters including the BOV Mascots Cikkurillu and his little sister Cikkurilla were present throughout the event, greeting children and posing for photographs with them.

George Abela, President of Malta, accompanied by Charles Borg CEO at Bank of Valletta visited the Kitchen Garden during the event. Both expressed their satisfaction at the overwhelming response of the public to the event, and thanked the volunteers from the Malta Community Chest Fund and Bank of Valletta, whose joint efforts made this event possible.

The L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank campaign will this year be celebrating its tenth anniversary. These were ten years during which this campaign has continued to grow and rally support from both school children and the general public. “This activity today really distills the spirit which makes this campaign so unique and special for all of us,” said Mr Charles Borg.
