Bank of Valletta will be investing further in its presence in Libya with a view to extend its corporate and business relationship services to Maltese and foreign companies that have a presence in the North African region.

This was stated by the BOV CEO Charles Borg during a visit by Mannie Galea, the ambassador for Malta in Libya to the BOV Representative Office in Tripoli. Present on the occasion was also Charles Saliba, who is responsible for managing the BOV Libya Representative Office.

“Libya is undergoing a period of change. We are seeing foreign investment returning to Libya as new business opportunities are on the increase,” explained HE Mannie Galea. “Malta’s geographical position is the ideal gateway to the North African market and the Maltese government is seeking to create a commercial hub in this country.

Referring to the Bank’s long-term presence in Libya which know dates xx years, Charles Borg said that this is in itself indicative of the Bank’s belief in Libya’s business potential. “We are confident of the real opportunities that exist here, and of the potential to create win-win scenarios to the benefit of both countries. Our direct presence in Libya is aimed at making this vision a reality and provide meaningful assistance to Maltese entrepreneurs seeking to venture in this region.”
