A dying boy’s wish to meet his idol Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been left unfulfilled after the footballer was reportedly ‘too busy’ to meet him, Metro reports.

Leukaemia sufferer Hajrudin Kamenjas, who doctors say has a month to live, travelled to Paris from his home in Bosnia after his parents arranged a ‘meet-up’ with the Sweden striker through his club Paris St Germain.

But when the eight-year-old arrived at the stadium to see the 32-year-old footballer in action, he was told his hero was injured and had not come to the game. Tour organiser Thea Rekic said: ‘The club tried to phone him but he was out of reach.

‘So we had to tell Hajrudin a lie that Zlatan was ill and in hospital.’

The boy’s mother, Amina, 35, said: ‘I did not succeed in giving my son his last wish and that hurts.’

Supporters from the boy’s hometown of Vares raised cash to send him to France.

Last month, Ibrahimovic sent the youngster a signed shirt and video message as he could not meet him in Bosnia due to ‘football commitments’.
