Malta Independent Thursday, 5 December 2013, 09:37 Last update: about 11 years ago

A new book published by the Malta University Press, An Introduction to the Law of Education by Dr Ugo Mifsud Bonnici is made up of seven chapters, respectively covering a) Philosophies inspiring Education Law; b) Nuclei of Norms; c) History of Maltese Law; d) Subsidiary Legislation in Force in Maltese Law; e) International Education Law; f) Other Aspects of Education Law (civil and administrative) and g) a Concluding Chapter.

From the breath of the topics covered it is very evident that this work is much more than An Introduction, as its title portends it to be. The nature of the topics covered also require knowledge in different areas, ranging from philosophy (from classics to contemporary), history, social analysis, law and politics. In essence the work reflects the various interests of the writer and draws heavily on his past experience as lawyer, legislator, administrator and politician.

This work should be appraised as an outstanding contribution to the history of education in Malta, and as a tool for the continuous development of this important social process for generations to come.

This book sells for €25 and is available from leading bookshops or from www.sierra-books.com
