Bank of Valletta presented the sum of €200,000 during the live broadcast of L-Istrina. This figure represents doubling the amount of donations collected from primary and secondary schools as well as various retail outlets around Malta and Gozo during the l-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign.

BOV CEO Charles Borg, accompanied by a number of children holding BOV Piggy Banks, presented the donation to The President  Dr George Abela during the live broadcast.

Over 5,000 piggy banks were distributed to schools across Malta & Gozo as well as a number of retail outlets.  A number of large piggy banks, which have become synonymous with the BOV Piggy Bank Campaign, were placed in the main shopping centres to help raise more funds.

 

This year marks the 10th consecutive year that BOV has joined the Malta Community Chest Fund in this nationwide campaign to help raise awareness and funds for the L- Istrina Campaign. 

 

The Bank also gives its support to L-Istrina effort by giving its backing to other initiatives like Rockestra, Paqpaqli ghall-Istrina, the August Moon Ball and Tisjir mill-Qalb, as well as encouraging its people to participate in the President’s Fun Run – with a group of over 900 participants enlisted in this year’s edition.

 

More than €930,000 have been presented to L-Istrina to date through the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign since this initiative was launched in 2004.
