Actavis technicians get calibration training in Germany

Two Technicians from Actavis have concluded training in Germany at the worldwide leaders in blister packaging technology – Uhlmann in order to enhance its Quality Assurance (QA) standards and improve capabilities to provide seal-tight and thermoformed packaging for its products.

The five-day programme included dismantling and cleaning, and calibrating three different types of pressure nut sets used on all Actavis’s packing lines in thermoforming and sealing stages.  The latter is the most critical stage of packaging where Alu/Alu blister packing, (packaging with aluminium on both side) is carried out.

The calibration of these Pressure Nuts can now be maintained and calibrated in-house by these trained and specialised Technicians rather than sending them for calibration at Uhlmann. The company said that this solution will help to minimise costs by calibrating in-house instead of contracting them out. The Technicians were presented with a Training Certificate by Mr. Guenther Kaleck, Customer Training Manager at Uhlmann.

“Considering all costs associated with contracted calibration charges and transportation, the company would be saving around €35,000 per annum but more importantly, the in-house packaging will be meeting our QA standards,” Actavis Ltd Managing Director Patrick Cachia said.

“On-going staff training is something we strongly believe in within our organisation,” he added.

“Our company has set high standards over the years and our clients have come to expect that the products we provide meet professional standards. With this particular solution, we are reducing costs, amounting to 40 per cent in cost savings of the calibration section and at the same time attaining high standards,” he said.
